Week three – more changes made

I can’t believe that week three of my training is complete. If I had to sum up this week, I would say it was long, exhausting, somewhat depressing…and fun!

Let me explain. First off, it was the week that my husband helped cover a large golf tournament in our town, the Resorters Golf Tournament, for the newspaper. This means he worked some long days/nights. I basically saw him for between five and 10 minutes per day. To some, it would be heaven. To me, it was hell. I completely love spending time with my husband and when I don’t get to spend enough time with him, I get depressed.

And when I get depressed, I eat. Stupidly. For instance, one day for lunch, I ate a McDonald’s hamburger (7 PPV’s), a McDonald’s vanilla cone dipped in chocolate (7 PPV’s), a small can of cheddar cheese Pringles (9 PPV’s) and a pack of six Little Debbie chocolate covered mini doughnuts (9 PPV’s). Yes, a total of 32 PointsPlus Values (PPV’s). And that was just lunch. I do have to say that I was proud of the fact that I figured out the points because I totally didn’t want to. But, despite how bad my week was food wise – and let me tell you, it was BAD – I am over it and moving on.

So the long and exhausting part is also going to be blamed on my husband not being home. The reason, I don’t sleep very well when he’s not here. Again, I like – actually LOVE – having my hubby at home. It’s just not right. It was also long and exhausting in a good way because of my weekend, well…Friday and Saturday.

And that is where the fun comes in. Myself, along with 10 other women, took part in the Dirty Girl Mud Run in the Twin Cities. It’s a 5K obstacle course fun run just for women and it’s a fundraiser for breast cancer.┬áIf you want more information on it, check out the website here. You can check out ALL my photos on my Facebook page here.

As for my training this week, it seemed a little off. Monday was a rest day. Tuesday, I ran four miles. Wednesday, I biked 13 miles. Thursday I did my “long” run, which this week was six miles. Friday, I didn’t get in a bike ride or run, but I logged plenty of steps walking around the St. Cloud mall, Target, Walmart and our hotel on Friday night. (All the ladies who participated in the mud run spent the night in the cities.) On Saturday, I did the 5K obstacle run, plus plenty of other walking around. Because both Friday and Saturday were exhausting, the only thing I did on Sunday (today), was laundry and pick up the house. I guess Sunday became my rest day, which means that tomorrow, I have to fit in a four-mile run. We’ll see how that goes.

I am looking forward to a better week this week! Thursday will be my long run and I am shooting for between seven and eight miles.

Here’s a look at last week in pictures:

And here is just a sampling of the Dirty Girl Mud Run pics:

The group right before we started.

This is one of the 12 obstacles.

This was a volunteer/staff dude that I had to have my picture by. He was the coolest. And no, I did not actually take a bite of his sandwich! Check out his arms!!!!

One of my teammates wrote this on my sleeve. My oldest sister, Donna, passed away from breast cancer two years ago.

And the after shot!

Yes, I had socks and tennis shoes on, but my feet were THAT dirty when I took them off!

All cleaned up and ready for the rest of the day!
